Match Report

Match Report - 26 Jan 2014, Ammanford AFC Futsal lost to Wrexham Futsal

Today Ammanford Futsal returned to action in a Friendly Day at Newcastle Emlyn Leisure Centre. It was the first time the Futsal team had made an appearance since they lost 1-0 in the Semi Final of the FAW Welsh Futsal Cup against today's opponents Wrexham.

The game started brightly for Ammanford with the team taking the lead in the first 10 minutes through Andrew Lewis' thunderous shot which nipped the inside of the post. Luke Squires then hit the bar from close range. Both teams had more chances and with only 2 minutes to go Wrexham pinched a goal from a well practiced set piece corner and eventually took the lead with a fantastic flick with the strikers back to goal to go in 2-1 at Half Time.

The second half started as the first finished with the Wrexham player showing great close control to go round keeper Ben Ledger from close range. 3-1 down, Ammanford decided to put their foot on the gas and missed some chances which should've been taken. Andrew Lewis hit the post but with 5 minutes to go Luke Squires equalised. Ammanford threw men forward but in the dying seconds conceded from a counter attack, meaning it finished 4-2.

It was great preparation for Ammanford as they have FAW Futsal Cup Qualifiers next Sunday (2nd Feb) and a great return to Futsal after a 9 month lay off. Big thanks must go to Matthew Adams who organised the event and Wrexham for being great competitors.
