Match Report - 02 Mar 2002, Ammanford AFC Firsts lost to Ton Pentre
No joy: Ammanford fail to break Ton
12:00pm Thursday 7th March 2002
Tonpentre 2 Ammanford 0
It took a fine save from Ammanford goalkeeper Adrian Bounsley in the opening minutes, when a David Witten effort was heading for the net.
Although Ammanford took some time to settle, they found league leaders Tonpentre hard to break down. They just failed to put the finishing touch to their efforts in a game where chances were few and far between.
But Ammanford were looking more solid in defence as the game progressed.
But a lapse in concentration in the 25 minute meant a quickly-taken Ton free kick, wide out on the touch line, ended in a goal.
Ammanford never gave up and created problems for the home defence, but try as they might, they just failed to score with Danny Harfield going nearest.
The match was then put beyond Ammanford when a mis-hit cross went in. Ammanford never gave up and still put Ton under pressure, but it was not to be.
Next Saturday Ammanford are home to Goytre Utd. Kick off at 3pm.
The seconds lost 1-3 to Carmarthen Town and the seconds will be away to Briton Ferry.
