Match Report - 02 Apr 2005, Ammanford AFC Reserves beat Goytre United

AMMANFORD completed an impressive double over Goytre at Rice Road on Saturday.

This match heralded the return of the indomitable Rhodri Robinson, who had been sidelined after a nasty gash on his knee against Pontardawe.

Ammanford opened the scoring when the opposing keeper failed to reach a corner kick and young Nathan Jones took full advantage with a far post header.

The lead was held until the early part of the second half when Ammanford allowed their opponents to sneak an equaliser.

The all-important breakthrough came when centre-back Sin Issacs played a well weighted pass through the visitors' defence to put wing back Nathan Jones in the clear.

He unselfishly squared the ball for substitute Gavin Porter to score from close range.

The latter then made the game safe when he converted a penalty awarded after he was brought down by the keeper.

Ammanford were now well in command and finished off in style when Stewart Williams scored with a scorching volley inside the far post from the right hand edge of the box.
