Ammanford beat Pontyclun on penalties Welsh Cup Round 1 Ammanford eventually ran out winners after extra time taking the game 3-1 on penalties.
The home team put Pontyclun under intense pressure in the opening 15 minutes with a shot cleared off the line and another effort hitting an upright.
In an isolated attack Pontyclun missed a great chance to score when they broke upfield and their midfielder shot wide.
Ammanford deservedly went 1-0 up when a superb cross from Luke Fayres found Dean Jenkins who headed in Pontyclun could well have been on equal terms at half time with keeper Walton pulling off two fine saves.
With Ammanford looking comfortable and having much the better territorially, Pontyclun scored in the 65 minute when some terrible defending gave the visitors centre forward a clear run at goal.
Ammanford had three goal appeals turned down before Pontyclun had a great effort that hit the cross bar with keeper Walton well beaten when the match ran into extra time.
When after 30 minutes of extra time it was still stalemate, it was penalties.
Pontyclun missed their first and Ammanford had their first penalty saved, but Ammanford ran out convincing winners with keeper Richard Walton pulling off three fine saves, and Cerison Davies scoring the winner.
Next Saturday, Ammanford are home in the League to Morriston Town, kick off 2.30pm.The Reserves are away to Port Talbot.
