Match Report - 31 Mar 2007, Ammanford AFC Firsts beat Troedyrhiw
AMMANFORD, just a few points behind Troedyrhiw who had held the top spot for half of the season, had the little bit of luck that goes with a Richard Walton penalty save.
In atrocious conditions with a gale force wind Ammanford played with the advantage and had the visitors' keeper on top form with three great saves in the opening exchanges.
Walton in Ammanford's goal also pulled off some good saves and Ammanford could well have gone 1-0 up in the 35th minute when a Liam Preece free kick saw the visitors' keeper pull off a fine save deflecting the ball on to the crossbar and over for a corner.
It was clear that the wind would be a major factor and Troedyrhiw began pressurising Ammanford and won a penalty in the 60th minute that was superbly saved by keeper Walton and then cleared off the line by Preece.
The wind was difficult to play with as it was against, but Ammanford scored in the 70th minute with a Lee Stone free kick.
They are away on Saturday to Pontyclun.
The Reserves won 2-3 away to Briton Ferry and are home to league leaders Afan Lido.
