Match Report - 09 Apr 2005, Ammanford AFC Firsts lost to Morriston Town
AMMANFORD are right back in the relegation mire after suffering a telling defeat in this vital basement battle.
Morriston came out on top as they caught the Ammanford defence napping twice in the opening 15 minutes.
John Parry and Mark Baber scored for the visitors, both goals unchallenged by a totally disorganised defence.
Ammanford did not threaten the Morriston goal until the 30th minute when Terry Ward was off target with a header.
Another chance came just two minutes later when Gary Davies's shot was deflected for a corner.
Ammanford did manage to pull a goal back in the 35th minute when Paul Hughes netted from an acute angle.
Morriston had a great chance on the stroke of half-time but Craig Morris pulled off a superb block to clear the danger.
Ammanford were much the better team in the second half but somehow Morriston's defence kept out at least three goal-scoring opportunities.
Nathan Jones went close in the 55th minute when he drew the keeper but misdirected his lob inches wide and Paul Hughes had two great chances blocked on the line.
It was a disappointing result for Ammanford, who also lost 2-0 away to Garden Village in midweek - results which put them right back in the relegation battle. On Saturday they are away to Ento Aberaman.
The Seconds have no game on Saturday but are away to Neath on Thursday after pulling off a 4-4 draw against Llwydcoed in midweek with Gavin Porter hitting a hat-trick and Matthew Thomas netting the other.
