Match Report - 02 Apr 2005, Ammanford AFC Firsts drew with Pontyclun
AMMANFORD could not find a way through at Pontyclun as both sides cancelled each other out.
The visitors made the better start and Michael Donne went close when he was put through by Cerison Davies after five minutes.
Ammanford were very lucky just minutes later when keeper Craig Morris completely missed an intended back pass and under severe pressure from the Pontyclun centre-forward, he managed to scramble back to prevent a goal.
It was all Ammanford up until half-time with further chances coming the way of the industrious Donne who was sent clear by Gary Davies, but with just the keeper to beat he mis-hit his shot.
The second half was totally different with Pontyclun putting Ammanford under intense pressure.
Bad finishing and some good goalkeeping combined to keep Ammanford in the match.
The visitors had some great chances of their own with Matthew Fisher creating two clear cut opportunities to snatch the win that were somehow kept out.
Pontyclun came under pressure in the last five minutes, conceding three corners and a free-kick, but they somehow survived for a draw that was a fair result for both teams.
The seconds, meanwhile, enjoyed a fine 4-1 win at home to Goytre.
Ammanford are home to Morriston Town on Saturday (ko 3pm), while the seconds are home to Llwydcoed tomorrow (Thursday), the match kicks off at 6.30pm.
