Match Report - 31 Dec 2005, Ammanford AFC Firsts lost to Morriston Town
Ammanford Town 0 Morriston Town 2 Macron Welsh League Division 2
A TERRIBLY inept display in which Ammanford played well below their recent good form cost Town three points against Morriston, although over the 90 minutes they had an equal share of chances.
Morriston scored through Dean Rosselli after just seven minutes and increased their lead a few minutes later through Dean Beniamous.
Those two early strikes proved too much of a hurdle for the home side to overcome against a well-organised Morriston defence.
Ammanford did have three clear cut chances in the opening 15 minutes of the second half to reduce the arrears, but their failure to convert pressure into goals proved costly.
At this level of football mistakes are usually punished and failure to compete from the kick-off proved costly to Ammanford, who put in a much improved second half performance.
Ammanford were missing several key players on the day with Steve Devinald, John Garland, Cerison Davies and Nathan McNeil all absent.
They were also without Steve Frawcy, who has transferred to Cwmaman, and the suspended Rhodri Robinson, but their absence provided an opportunity for some of the squad players to shine and one positive for Ammanford was the Welsh League debut of Daniel Bowen.
l Ammanford are home on Saturday against Gwynfi. The second team, who didn't have a match over the weekend, are away to Chepstow in the quarter-finals of the Harris Printers Shield.
