Match Report - 19 Nov 2005, Ammanford AFC Firsts beat Gwynfi United
Gwynfi United 0 Ammanford 2 Macron Welsh League Division 2
AMMANFORD deservedly took all three points after Steve Devanold netted both goals.
Ammanford could easily have scored three times in the opening 15 minutes but for some desperate defending and a failure to hit the target, which could have proved costly.
They did manage to score in the 30th minute though, when Cerison Davies sent Matthew Fisher clear on the left. He outpaced the defence and put in a great cross that caused panic in the home defence.
With the keeper off his line, two shots were blocked but Devanold eventually put the ball in the net with a simple tap-in.
As the game progressed Ammanford began to play some quality football and deservedly went two ahead with an unstoppable shot from Devanold.
Ammanford looked confident in everything they did and brought on three subs for the last quarter with Daniel Bowen making his Welsh League first team debut.
It was a team effort and with a little more composure Ammanford could have increased their goal tally. With four players missing the match through suspension and work commitments, the players from the reserves stepped into the fold and played well, but at a cost to the seconds who went down 0-5 to Afan Lido.
l Next Saturday, Ammanford are home to league-leaders Caldicot (ko 2pm). The reserves are away to Llwydcoed.
