Match Report - 01 Sep 2007, Ammanford AFC Firsts lost to Troedyrhiw
AMMANFORD were jilted at the altar on Saturday as they slipped to their second successive defeat due, in no small part, to a wedding.
Despite creating a whole host of chances, striker Luke Fayres, who was unavailable because of the do, was sorely missed with no-one reliably on hand to put the ball in the back of the net.
And fellow wedding crasher Scott Evans's presence was also needed early on when the visitors took the lead in the match but Phil Fisher's men fought back well and were soon on level terms.
A superb run by Richard Lewis resulted in a Troedyrhiw defender putting the ball through his own net, much to the delight of the home crowd.
The score remained level until halftime but the visitors were back in front soon after the interval through a superb 25-yard strike.
They extended the lead minutes later after a mix-up at the back.
The hosts attempted to hit back immediately but it wasn't until the 80th minute that they got their second goal through Lewis.
Despite bombarding the visitors in search of an equaliser, Town were denied and slipped to their second defeat on the bounce.
Chairman Steve Davies was, however, adamant Ammanford deserved a point.
"In reality we could have won 10-3, we created plenty of chances but we just couldn't finish them.
"Then again we can't expect to win after conceding three goals at home," she said.
l Ammanford Reserves lost 1-0 to Pontardawe away on Saturday but Ammanford's Carmarthenshire League side beat Llandysul 2-1 with goals through Gideon Evans and an own goal.
The club's 100 club September draw was won by Alan Howells (Speedy) on Saturday with No 52.
