Match Report - 15 Oct 2011, Ammanford AFC Thirds beat Johnstown United
Luke Webb was instrumental in leading Ammanford’s youth team to a fine win, opening the scoring with an accuratelytaken free kick that gave the Johnstown keeper little chance.
Johnstown proved a physical team and Harry Brook and Steffan Howells did well in matching the visitors with some solid tackling in midfield.
But time on the training ground paid off when Dan Quick squared a lovely ball to Jake Webb, who tapped in easily.
Johnstown still tried to impose the physical side of their game but Jack Conway and Lloyd Bevan continued to dominate at the back, winning everything in the air.
The second half saw Ammanford come under increasing pressure, with Darren Warnes tipping a great shot on to the cross bar and safely away for a corner.
A Sion Allen cross then saw the Johnstown keeper drop the ball and Jake Webb pounce to stab the ball home for his second and Ammaford’s third.
Johnstown again rallied and scored soon after despite the efforts of James Lawlor and Scott Vobe in defence. The play got a bit heated after Johnstown were frustrated when the excellent Connor Thomas threaded his way through the defence to seal the game when he blasted past the keeper.
Rhodri Llewellyn was introduced and his trickery confounded Johnstown even further.
The last five minutes saw the Johnstown keeper come up for a corner but this was cleared, leaving Luke Webb to try a Beckham-like strike from inside his own half.
His effort was kept out, but Quick finished neatly with the keeper stranded.
