Match Report - 01 Oct 2011, Ammanford AFC Thirds beat Penyfan
Ammanford travelled to Penyfan in warm conditions for what would prove to be a challenging cup tie.
The visitors started the better with Matt Warnes and Harry Brook playing good football in the midfield.
Ammanford got their first goal from Connor Thomas who dribbled through the midfield before his long-range effort flew into the net.
The hosts began to get a foothold in the game by pressuring the defence of Scott Vobe, Jack Conway, Luke Webb and Sion Allen.
However, Ammanford’s back line remained strong and won the possession that allowed Steffan Howells to calmly finish for the visitors’ second.
Penyfan then saw a penalty tremendously saved by Darren Warnes. Despite his fantastic performance, Darren could not stop Penyfan scoring their only goal just before the break.
The second half started with Ammanford down to ten men and defending to keep the lead.
But the visitors got their third and final goal from striker Dan Quick who tapped in after a defensive error.
The visitors battled hard to maintain their lead with Jake Webb, Dylan Thomas and Rhodri Llewelyn giving their all in the midfield.
Ammanford, who return to league action on Saturday, got the win after a great team performance and deserved their victory.
