Match Report - 02 May 2009, Ammanford AFC Firsts beat Pentwyn Dynamos
Having lost 4-2 away to West End on Wednesday, Ammanford’s ten-match unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt but the setback saw the Town men all the more desperate to end the season on a winning run.
A return to winning ways would not be easy however, especially against a Dynamos side determined to avoid relegation.
Ammanford missed two early chances after fine work by Richard Lewis, but finally found the net on 12 minutes with a James Murray goal.
The home side were then forced onto the back foot and found themselves defending desperately as visiting striker Lee Grant caused all sorts of problems but miskicked from the edge of the penalty area into an open goal.
Ammanford had a series of shots blocked before Grant was again presented with an open goal but fluffed his lines once more.
Just before the break the visitors thought they had scored but the referee gave Ammanford a let-off by blowing up for an infringement in the build-up.
Five minutes into the second half Grant was again presented with a goal-scoring opportunity but blasted wide.
Ammanford were themselves creating chances and in the 75th minute Dean Jenkins latched on to a bad bounce over the visiting keeper and scored into the empty net.
Moments later Jenkins, put through by Luke Fayres, set up Richard Lewis for the third.
Pentwyn pulled a goal back on 87 minutes, but Ammanford, who had to shuffle the team owing to injuries and looked uncomfortable at times, deservedly took the three points
