Ammanford AFC - Futsal Club

Ammanford Futsal Club/Clwb Ffwtsal Rhydaman

Ammanford Futsal Club was created in January 2013 by Rhodri Jones. After playing the sport at University he decided to set up a team for Ammanford Football Club. After only one training session the team decided to enter the FAW National Futsal Cup. First, they played their first ever game, beating an experienced Trinity St.David's University team 12-6!!!

On Sunday 17th February Ammanford played in the South Qualifiers in the FAW Futsal Cup, being drawn in a group alongside Cymru Dragon Futsal and Trinity St.David's University. Ammanford won the first game 17-0, with Shaun Williams scoring 7 during the game. Ammanford then had to beat Trinity to qualify for the finals, and they did so after a narrow 8-6 win.

On Sunday 24th March Ammanford played in the FAW Futsal Cup Finals Days alongside Cardiff City, Wrexham Futsal, TNS, Newtown and Cardiff University. Ammanford were drawn in Group B with 2011 Champions TNS and 2012 Champions Cardiff City. After going down 7-5 to Cardiff City, Ammanford had to beat TNS to qualify for the semi-finals. Ammanford did so after a 3-0 win against TNS.
Ammanford then played Wrexham Futsal in the semi-final. Despite dominating possession for most of the game, Ammanford could not convert and paid the price when Wrexham scored with only 2 minutes left on the cup. Wrexham went on to win the competition after defeating Cardiff City on penalties.
Ammanford have applied to compete in the inagural National Futsal League, we are still waiting for feedback.
