About the junior section

Ammanford AFC Junior section has over 150 children between the ages of 6 and 16 playing football each week from September to April.
Under 6s train in the sports hall and astro turf at Amman Valley School.
The under 7s,  8s, 9s, 10s and 11s play on a Sunday morning in the Carmarthenshire mini football conference, while the under 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s and 16s play on a Saturday morning in the Carmarthenshire Junior Football League. Both the mini and junior teams play their home games at the Recreation Ground in Manor Road, Ammanford or at Rice Road in Bettws.

The aim of the Junior Section is to provide opportunity for children to play football in an organised, structured and safe environment.
All children are encouraged to enjoy playing to their full potential. 
Team leaders are responsable for each age group and all are required to become qualified and receive a criminal records bureau check.

During the 2007/08 season the section joined the FAW club accreditation scheme. The scheme offers Four awards. Standard, Bronze, Silver and Gold. To gain the awards clubs have to meet a certain criteria which come under the following key areas.

Clubs are assessed by an FAW football in the community officer. 
In 2008 the Bronze Award was achieved and for the season 2010/11 we are proud to have achieved the Silver Award. The junior section is now working towards the gold standard.
